What is LIHEAP?
LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) is a federal program run by each state that helps low-income households pay heating and cooling bills, and in a crisis can help stop a utility shut-off. Funds are limited and application seasons vary by state, so apply early through your own state’s agency — never through a third-party site, and never for a fee.
