Education Grants

Education grants help students pay for college or career training, and unlike loans, grants usually do not have to be repaid. The largest is the Federal Pell Grant, which goes to undergraduate students with financial need. The FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) adds extra help for students with the greatest need at participating schools. Most states also run their own grant and scholarship programs for residents. To apply for nearly all of this aid, you fill out one form: the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Filing it every year is the single most important step, because schools use it to decide what you receive.
